Sony Ericsson has recently launched in India its new slider style Walkman range of mobilephone, the Sony Ericsson W705 which features 2.4-inch 256K TFT display, 3.15 Megapixels auto-focus digital camera, Walkman v3.0 series media player, ultrafast HSCSD wireless connection and EDGE connectivity options.

The quad band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz and EDGE network along with HSCSD(High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data) network ready Sony Ericsson W705 mobilephone has 240 x 320 pixels, 2.4 inches, 256K colours TFT display. A five-way directional button on the front of the device controls most of the mobilephone’s menus and features.

The Sony W705 Walkman mobilephone comes with 120 MB shared internal memory and it supports Memory Stick Micro (M2) card with up to 8 GB maximum memory storage. The main internal storage memory allows storage of up to 2000 phone numbers and handset also offers 30 dialed, 30 received, 30 missed calls records.

The VideoDJ feature allows the user to add together several chunks of recorded or downloaded video clips to create a continuous video picture which can be further enhanced with music or sound clips.

The W705 Walkman series music phone’s digital camera is also equipped with autofocus technology (green ractangle display while shooting) and comes with a powerful integrated flash. Sony Ericsson W705 Walkman mobilephone allows shooting pictures in additional three different resolutions: 160 x 120, 640 x 480 and 1632 x 1224 pixels (2 MP), and they are saved in standard JPEG format. The music phone is also captures videos in 3GP format with a resolution of 176 x 144 pixels. Recording length is only limited by the available free space on the memory card.

Shake Control: Sony W705 Walkman phone’s media player offers another unique feature, viz the shake-control, which is the easy way to change music track, just by shaking the handset. With Shake control activated, press and hold the Walkman key and flick your wrist. A vibration lets you know that the track is changed and a new song from your current playlist is randomly selected and automatically played.

The MusicDJ allows the user to create their own polyphonic ringtone with the use of the built in instrumental sounds & rhythms.

The Sony Ericsson W705 also features an integrated FM Radio with RDS and 20 station memory. The radio can be played through the loud speaker as well. The radio is stereophonic reception and the phone is capable of receiving very clear and stable signal without any interferences in the broadcast.

The RDS feature of FM Radion technology in Sony Ericsson W705 enables display of the radio station name or even additional information – like artist’s names or song’s titles and duration etc. The FM Radio offers 20 stations memory and allows frequency scale of 87.5 up to 108.0 MHz.

Slightly lighter than Sony-Ericsson W910i, at 98 grams the Sony Ericsson W705 also sports a unique in Flight mode, once engaged/activated the radio function is turned off so it doesn’t disturb sensitive aircraft communication and control equipments. One can’t make or take calls while in-flight-mode is turned on, but it still allows most other functions in the phone including music player and digital camera.

The Sony-Ericsson W705 also supports MMS (Multimedia Message Service) for Multimedia text messaging allowing sounds, pictures, animations and formatted text in SMS message and its integrated image blog features allows sharing photos instantly by directly posting them onto any blog site.
